Sleep Levels
Are you tired all the time? That means, you might be a sleep level 2, or SL2. Here I'll define the different sleep levels and their definitions, in case you were wondering. The number after the sleep level indicates your consciousness, ranging from 0-3.
Awake
In your normal state, a few hours after waking up from a typical good night's sleep (7-8 hours) and without (too much) caffeine, that is a sleep level one, or SL1. In this state, you are awake, and your energy level doesn't bother you. Ideally, you want to spend most of the day at this level.
Asleep
Skipping ahead a bit, being asleep is a sleep level of 3, or SL3. This is the highest sleep level. At this level you are voluntarily unconscious.
Tired
There is a range of being tired as you can experience different intensities of being tired. This will be defined as the range between SL1 and SL3. To create an anchor point, I'll define a sleep level of two (or SL2) as the feeling you get in the afternoon after a previous night's sleep of about 4 hours. You might also feel like this after a long exhausting day.
In this range, decimal values are also allowed. A sleep level of SL2.5 could be experienced after an all-nighter, or also the feeling you get right before falling asleep or right after waking up.
A sleep level of SL1.5 could be defined as the feeling you have on a lazy Sunday, or a general tiredness from waking up early from your alarm clock. I personally experience this one all the time. It's a frustrating feeling between being too tired and wide awake. You aren't tired enough to snooze, but aren't awake enough to get any chores done.
Energized
Right after an intense workout, or chugging a caffeinated beverage, your mind might feel extra sharp or wired. This is the highest level of consciousness. This is defined as sleep level zero, or SL0. You can think of it as there is "zero" chance of falling asleep anytime soon.
There can also be decimal values between the energized state and awake state. For example, a sleep level of point five, or SL0.5 is a satisfying state of hyper-focus of the task at hand also known as the "flow state".
